Maiagrace strives to find products that are ethically sourced where production benefits local village communities. The products we source are skillfully designed and carefully made within small factories supported by local village labour.

Targeting this kind of local operation helps to prevent the break up of rural communities where people (often the younger members of families) are forced to seek work in large factories in major cities during periods of low agricultural labour demand. Once people leave the community and take up employment in the cities, it is often difficult for them to return when additional 'hands' are required on the family farms.

Any support which these small local enterprises receive is welcomed as it helps to give the community cohesion and ensures that skills and craftsmanship which might otherwise be lost are preserved by being passed from generation to generation.

Maiagrace would of course shun any supplier who we found to be implementing exploitive practices on their own workers or used products from suppliers who were exploitive, environmentally damaging or used child labour.

Whilst Maiagrace Co is a business aiming to achieve a profit, it is hoped that we can promote a change in attitude away from the 'maximum profit at any cost' mentality that is prevalent today by taking into account all aspects of human and environmental considerations.

Any kind of commercial or production operation is going to have an impact on the environment and leaves some kind of foot print. However we do the very best we can to ensure our foot print is as small as we can make it; we make extensive use of recycled materials for packaging despite the fact that this may not be as visually attractive as some alternatives and select methods of transport which are the least damaging.

Maiagrace is dedicated to providing good value products which are attractive, well made, often unusual and based on a fair deal for everyone concerned in the lengthy process of manufacture, transportation and final distribution in the UK.
